Proxy Setup for Automation and Bots

To use a proxy with an automated job, configure it in the application that sends the requests. Choose a static rental or residential traffic, retrieve your connection details from Proxyca and test one request before scheduling the job. This guide covers the workflow without assuming you have a proxy-management API.

Match the purchase model to the job

A static datacenter rental gives you an IP for the selected rental period. Choose it when your application needs a consistent connection and you prefer IP-based rental. It starts at $2.50 per IP for 30 days, with longer terms available.

Residential traffic fits jobs requiring available country and city settings, rotation or sticky sessions. Buy a traffic allowance, then generate your connection details from that balance. Start with 1 GB for $8 and monitor usage before choosing a larger package.

In both cases, your job needs to support proxy configuration. Buying a proxy does not automatically change the route of every program on a machine. The connection settings belong in the client, browser automation configuration or other application that runs the job.

Get the endpoint ready before scheduling anything

  1. Buy your product in the Proxyca bot.
  2. For residential traffic, open My proxies → Generate and choose location, protocol and session settings.
  3. For datacenter rental, open the issued order in My proxies.
  4. Copy host, port and any username and password for one endpoint.
  5. Keep the values together and label them for the application that will use them.

A convenient connection record has five fields: protocol, host, port, username and password. Keep credentials in environment variables or a secret store rather than committing a complete proxy URL to a repository.

Start with one manual request

Before writing a retry loop, confirm that a single request works. The online checker can test a public IPv4 HTTP or SOCKS5 endpoint. You can also run a local curl check with an endpoint stored in your shell environment:

curl --proxy "$PROXY_URL" --connect-timeout 10 --max-time 20 https://api.ipify.org

The example makes one request to an IP-reporting service. The limits are example test settings, not promised performance thresholds. Use the returned address as a connection check before running a request to the destination your job actually needs.

curl documents proxy selection and request limits in its official manual. Keep certificate verification enabled in the production client.

Configure the client that runs the task

For a Python Requests job, pass the appropriate proxy mapping to the request and set a timeout. The Requests proxy documentation describes HTTP proxy settings and its optional SOCKS support. Keep the proxy credential separate from any authentication used by the destination website.

For browser automation, Playwright exposes proxy settings for browser or context configuration. See its HTTP proxy documentation. Configure the connection before launching the pages used by your task, then test from that browser context.

For an antidetect-browser workflow, use the browser setup manual and the browser’s supported automation tools. The purchase and proxy-generation steps stay in Telegram; the issued endpoint is what your automation client consumes.

Handle failures as different events

ObservationFirst action
Cannot connectCheck host, port, rental status and whether the chosen proxy protocol matches.
Proxy authentication failsCheck username and password for the same endpoint.
Request times outRecord the stage and test one request before increasing limits.
A destination rejects a requestInspect its response and access requirements rather than assuming a proxy outage.
The job uses too much trafficCheck request volume, repeated downloads and retry frequency.

Give each attempt a small, useful log entry: job label, time, response status or error category and elapsed time. Redact the proxy URL and authentication fields. Put a cap on retries so a failing task cannot keep consuming traffic indefinitely.

Schedule a job you can maintain

Run a small batch and review both the result and traffic consumption. For a static rental, track the order’s rental term. For residential traffic, review your remaining GB and the session setting used by the job.

Keep a simple runbook: where the endpoint is stored, how to test it, which order or traffic balance it uses and who owns renewal or top-up. When a configuration changes, rerun the single-request test before resuming the full schedule. For deeper diagnosis, use the connection troubleshooting guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does Proxyca provide a proxy-management API?

This workflow uses the Telegram bot for purchases and connection generation. Your automation application connects to the issued proxy endpoint using its own proxy configuration.

Should an automated job use rotating or static proxies?

Choose based on the job. Static rental suits a consistent connection and term. Residential traffic provides location and session settings, including rotation and sticky options.

Can I paste credentials directly into a script?

Use environment variables or a secret store instead. Avoid committing credentials or writing complete authenticated proxy URLs into routine logs.

How do I start safely with traffic usage?

Test one request, run a small batch and review consumption. Set request limits and bounded retries before enabling a recurring job.
